How do divers keep water out of their masks?

I have never dived before, and am wondering, how and what do you do if water gets in your mask?? I guess you would blow air into it through your nose, but does that really get all the water out? When I was a kid I remember how frustrating it was when water got into my goggles. But in the pool, It's a little different, and so are goggles. How do divers keep water out of their masks?
First, a diver will want a well fitting mask. There are a variety of mask shapes and sizes to hopefully fit a wide range of faces. To say you need to keep it tight is some wrong advice. I have had a mask strap break on a dive and I was able to keep the mask on my face with just suction alone. Plus, a too tight of mask will cause headaches on a dive. If the mask is leaving deep lines on your face after a dive, the mask is too tight.

To clear the water out of a mask, the diver will press the top of the mask (which lessens the seal at the bottom of the mask). Next while looking up, the diver will exhale through his/her nose. The air from the nose will displace the water from inside the mask.

There are some other methods for clearing water from a mask, but the method described above is the most common.

Edit: Yes, it gets out all of the water from the mask. Obvisouly, some drops of water will remain since the inside is now wet.How do divers keep water out of their masks?
You have to make sure that your mask is completly sealed before you dive; it has to be watertight.
yeah, first off you have to make sure that the mask is tight. and when you're in water deep enough that you have no footing, you have to be able to empty everyonce and a while when you're submerged. The best way to do it is press on the mask around your fore head and blow through your nose. the pressure on the top of the mask causes the air and water to exit out of the bottom, where the water is. It's also a good idea to have an anti fogger... long swims generally come with a fogging of the mask. and that's a whole new method when clearing that. so it's better just to apply some special stuff you can buy, i forget what it's called, or use saliva (before starting your swim). (but you'd be supprised how well saliva works, pretty well.
