Why do people who protest Scientology generally wear masks?

No finger pointing, just want to know whyWhy do people who protest Scientology generally wear masks?
As evidenced by the above answer, Scientologists will try to discredit and ruin ';enemies'; of their ';church'; in any and all ways, even though lying and character assassination. THAT is why protesters wear masks - they need to be protected against such hostile actions.





Go ahead and look up a woman named ';Paulette Cooper'; and something called ';Operation Freakout';. Paulette wrote a book called ';The Scandal of Scientology'; a few decades ago and they went after her full force. She was framed by Scientology; they forged bomb threats using her typewriter which had her fingerprints on it. She was indicted by a Federal grand jury and although the charges were dropped years later, one can only imagine the Hell she went through.





They also sued her for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and when she counter-sued, they painted her name and phone number on street walls, they told her neighbors that she had STD's, and she received death threats.

Yeah, I saw them in Minneapolis wearing the 'V' for Vendetta mask. I talked to a couple of them because I couldn't understand why they would be so upset over something like this. According to the people that I spoke to a lot of the protesters have family in the church. They have wittnessed separation from their family because the church of Scientology tells their followers not to engage with any unbelieving family members. They wear their masks because they are afraid their family members who are in the church would have retribution upon them for their familial link to the protestors.
Dr Zero is right they have an army of well backed lawyers. They also used them to strong arm the government to give them ';religion'; status. This allowed them to avoid taxes and gain even more economic momentum. Anyone who gets in there way will be steamrolled by there ruthless doctrine of self preservation. Anonymity is key in dealing with this cult.
To intimidate. ';V'; was a terrorist, Anonimous is determined to DESTROY Scientology. Is just a bunch of haters.
They do not want to be harassed by the cult members... Scientology has always had a habit of targeting their critics with slander and ridicule...
Cause if they identify you, they will hunt you down, tarnish your reputation, put posters up saying you are a pedophile, etc.
I think the Psychologists call it paranoid delusion or something like that. Whatever that is where people feel everyone is out to get them You know, metal foil on the heads and things like that.





But seriously though, it's because this so - important ';mission'; isn't important enough to come out in the open. Guess it's just a game like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft to them.





They got their start in 4chan which is a kiddie porn group. I guess that's another reason - don't let the Feds find out their real identities due to their crimes.
